Regulile par a fi bazate pe popularul sistem Warhammer al producatorului. Acesta este un joc de sine statator, dar este complet compatibil cu alte produse din gama Lord of the Rings Tabletop Battle Game. De asemenea, ofera material de tip extension pentru lansarile anterioare din serie. Acest starter set contine o carte de reguli de 160 de pagini care acopera toate aspectele jocului, alaturi de instructiuni pentru constructia si pictarea miniaturilor incluse, precum si pentru crearea de teren.
