The wooden disk slides along the table surface to push the puck along. The first person or team to score 4 goals is the winner. violation of rules such as swiping the puck instead of pushing sees the opposing team calling out their name (i.e Hokey) and receiving a free push.
The game was produced when the Hokey Pokey song and accompanying dance peaked in popularity as a music hall song and novelty dance in the mid-1940s in the UK and Australia.
