Badar raced among the wobbling projections that held the monster aloft somewhere in the darkness overhead. They worked in pairs, hacking and slicing the chitinous stalks, not pausing to watch them crumble under their monstrous weight. Their heavy hopping steps took aim at the skittering brood underfoot.

The torso landed with a venomous splash before him. He raced at its snarling face, relentlessly boring into the hissing, wriggling creature, aiming for its multitudes of eyes. A keening wail arose from the rocking mass, its horrid grinning mouth grew impossibly wide. A creak of osseous hinge alarmed him. He dove out of the way as the hissing fang pierced the ground where he stood moments ago. He dove, wrestling the caustic bone from the monster's open maw. With a final crack, the monster's expression slackened.
