On Wings: World War II Aerial Combat

This is a rule set of aerial combat set in WW2, Dynamic cartoon style aircraft capture the prominent features of the real planes. Though the aircraft are comic book drawn the maneuvers and abilities are based on reported aircraft performance both anecdotal and charted.

During a game players control from 2 to 12 aircraft by selecting an maneuver on their aircraft information cards, using a dry erase marker. the considerations in selecting a maneuver gaining advantage on the enemy position, and altitude, The maneuvers are then translated into the models movement on the table via a single maneuver template. various speeds of flight are handled in what maneuvers are available to a given aircraft. After moving, aircraft have opportunity to fire at valid targets. Fire combat uses a simple dice system and each craft has its own damage chart encompassing it's special strengths and weaknesses.

The game design features an uncluttered tabletop, squadron building, and aerial terrain and built in altitude rules. Basic and advanced rules allow you to choose what level of detail you prefer. Scenarios including ground attack, bomber interception, meeting engagements and more. Each with their own criteria for victory: every thing from hit the target hard and get away, to total control of the skies, to protect your valuable bombers or airbase.

The rules are now available via War game vault, and include elevated paper counters to represent the aircraft models.
