Operation Solstice

This game is also called Operation Sonnenwende. 200 DTP counters The game depicts the 11Pz SS Army attack in Pomerania on February 15, 1945. This offensive had the purpose of hitting th weaker Russian Northern flank of the future drive to Berlin which was strung out a very long front ending on the Oder river. The offensive was planned by Heinz Guderian. The Germans were able to assemble 200 tanks unknown to the Russians, achieved tactical surprise and managed to reach one of its objective, the city of Arnswalde and to save the encircled garrison, but they did not advance much further.
