Setup

Choose a judge, split into two teams (Yellow and Blue), ensure the timer has equal sand in both halves, and give batons to the first players of each team.

The rules, step by step

Setup
First, select one player to be the judge. The judge is responsible for controlling the timer, reading out challenges, and ensuring fair play. Next, divide the remaining players into two teams: Team Yellow and Team Blue. Take the 20-second timer and ensure that the sand is evenly distributed between both halves. Finally, hand a baton to the first player of each team, signifying who will start the challenges.
Objective
The main objective of 20 Second Showdown is to be the first team to accumulate three points. Teams earn points by successfully completing random challenges within the allotted time, before the sand in their opponent's half of the timer completely runs out.
On your turn
To begin a turn, the judge flips the 20-second timer, starting the flow of sand for the active team. The judge then reads out a challenge from a card to the player holding the baton. The active player (or team, if a 'Help!' card is used) must complete this challenge before the sand in their half of the timer runs out. Once the challenge is completed, the judge flips the timer again, passing the challenge to the next player on the opposing team, who then receives the baton and a new challenge.
Scoring
A team scores one point if their player (or team) successfully completes the assigned challenge before the sand in their designated half of the timer completely runs out. If the sand runs out before the challenge is completed, the opposing team scores a point. The judge is the final arbiter of whether a challenge was successfully completed.
Game end
The game concludes as soon as one of the teams successfully earns three points. The team that reaches three points first is immediately declared the winner of 20 Second Showdown.
Tips
Teams have a strategic option to use a 'Help!' card if they find themselves struggling with a particular challenge. This card allows all members of the team to collaborate and assist the active player in completing the challenge. However, this card can only be used once per round, so teams should choose wisely when to deploy it to maximize its impact.
