The rules, step by step
Setup
To set up the game, first shuffle all the cards. Then, remove one card from the deck and set it aside without looking at it. Deal two cards face-down to the center of the playing area. Finally, deal three cards face-down to each player. The number of cards in play depends on the number of players: for five players, all cards are used; for four players, remove cards with 5 points; for three players, remove cards with 4 points.
Objective
The objective of 3 Wishes is to be the player with the highest total score at the end of the game. Players achieve this by collecting cards that represent different types of wishes and super powers, each with varying point values and special abilities.
On your turn
On your turn, you must perform two of three possible actions. The actions are: peeking at two cards (either from the center or from another player's hand), swapping two cards (either one of your cards with a card from the center, or one of your cards with a card from another player), or shuffling your three cards. After performing your actions, ensure all cards remain face-down.
Scoring
Points are indicated on the bottom right of each card. There are three types of wishes: 'Dotes' (gold symbol), 'World Harmony' (pink heart symbol), and 'Super Powers' (blue hand symbol). Some cards have special scoring rules; for example, 'Cold Fusion' and 'Cornucopia' double your total score if you have a complete set of three different wish types and both of these cards. The 'Time Travel' card results in an automatic loss for the player holding it at the end of the game.
Game end
The game can end in two ways. A player can declare the end of the game on their fourth turn or any subsequent turn. Alternatively, the game ends immediately if a player has a complete set of three different wish types (one of each symbol) in their hand. Once the game ends, all players reveal their cards, calculate their scores, and the player with the highest score wins. If playing multiple rounds, the winner of each round receives a black cube, and the game continues.
Tips
Carefully observe the special effects on certain cards, as they can drastically change your score or even lead to an automatic win or loss. Memory is key in this game, as you'll need to remember the locations of cards you've peeked at or swapped. Strategic card swapping can help you complete sets or hinder your opponents.
