To set up the game, each player receives a starting hand of 10 cards from a total deck of 104 numbered cards. Additionally, four cards are drawn from the remaining deck and placed face-up in a vertical column on the table to act as the starting cards for four separate rows. Every card in the game features a specific number from 1 to 104 as well as one or more bull heads, which represent negative penalty points that players want to steer clear of throughout the game.

The primary objective of the game is to finish with as few penalty points as possible. Since the bull heads printed on the cards count directly against your score, your main strategy revolves around avoiding taking rows of cards from the table whenever possible.

During each round, every player simultaneously selects one card from their hand and places it face-down on the table. Once all players have made their choice, the cards are revealed at the same time. These revealed cards are then added to the four rows on the table one by one, starting with the lowest numbered card and proceeding in ascending order. A played card must always be placed next to a row ending in the highest number that is still lower than the played card, and it must go into the row with the closest matching end number. The crucial catch is that if your card happens to be the sixth card placed in any row, you cannot add it safely; instead, you must take the first five cards of that row into your penalty pile, and your card becomes the new starting card for that row.

Scoring is calculated at the conclusion of all rounds by counting the total number of bull heads accumulated on the cards you were forced to pick up during the game. Each bull head counts as one negative point against you.

The game officially concludes once all 10 cards in the players' hands have been completely played and resolved. The player who has managed to collect the absolute fewest penalty points by the end of this final round is declared the winner.
