Setup

Lay out the board, place 5-8 skulls on the kill track, shuffle weapon and power-up decks, add 3 weapons to each spawn point, shuffle and stack ammo tiles face down, and give each player a player board, mini, damage tokens, and 3 ammo cubes.

The rules, step by step

Setup
To set up Adrenaline, first lay out the board, adjusting the configuration based on the number of players. Place 5 to 8 skull tokens on the kill track, depending on the desired game length. Shuffle the weapon and power-up decks separately. Deal three weapon cards face up to each spawn point on the board. Shuffle the ammo tiles face down and place one on each dedicated space on the board. Each player selects a character and takes their corresponding player board, mini, damage tokens, and three ammo cubes (one of each color), placing one of each color on their player board. Choose a random start player and give them the start player marker.
Objective
The objective of Adrenaline is to be the player with the most points at the end of the game. Points are primarily earned by dealing damage to opponents and securing kills in the virtual arena. Players will strategically move, collect weapons and ammo, and engage in combat to outscore their rivals, aiming to be the ultimate champion of the Adrenaline tournament.
On your turn
On a player's turn, they have two action points and can choose from three main actions, as shown on their action tile. The first action is to run, allowing a player to move 1, 2, or 3 spaces via adjacent squares and through doors. The second action is to grab, which involves moving up to one space first, then picking up something in that space. If it's an ammo tile, discard it and pick up the matching colored cubes, drawing a power-up card if indicated. If it's a weapon, choose one from those available, pay its cost (minus the first cube), and add it to your hand. The third action is to shoot, where a player plays a weapon card, declares targets, pays any additional costs, and deals damage. The same action can be taken twice.
Scoring
When dealing damage, players place damage tokens of their color on the target player's damage track. If a player damages an opponent they have already marked, those mark tokens are also added as damage. When a player takes 11 damage, they are killed. The player who dealt the first damage to the killed player receives a first blood bonus of one point. Players who caused the most damage to the killed player score points as shown on the player track (8, 6, 4, 2, 1, 1). In case of a tie for damage, the player who damaged the victim earlier on their damage track gets priority. A red skull is removed from the kill track and placed on the leftmost empty space of the player track, reducing the value for future kills. If a player takes a 12th damage, the damage token is placed on the save space of the kill shot track, and the dead player also marks the player who killed them.
Game end
The game enters a final frenzy when the last skull is taken from the kill track. Each player takes one more turn, ending with the player who took the final kill. During this phase, players with no damage flip their player boards, and all players flip their action tiles. If a player's final turn is before the start player's final turn, they use the top half of the action tile, taking two actions: move up to one space, reload and shoot; move up to four spaces; or move up to two spaces and pick up. If a player takes their final turn after the start player, they use the bottom half of the action tile, taking just one more action: move up to two spaces, reload and shoot; or move up to three spaces and pick up. After the last turn, all player boards are scored in their current state, but no first blood bonus is awarded. The kill shot track is scored by the total number of damage tokens on it, similar to scoring a kill, starting with 8 points.
Tips
To excel in Adrenaline, strategic movement is key; use your run actions to position yourself advantageously or to grab essential items. Pay close attention to the costs and effects of different weapons and power-up cards, as they can significantly impact your turn. Managing your ammo cubes is crucial, as you have a limit of three of each color, and any additional cubes are wasted. Similarly, you can only hold three power-up cards. Marking opponents with tagback grenades can be a powerful way to secure additional damage when you eventually shoot them. Prioritize dealing damage to multiple opponents to maximize your scoring potential, and be mindful of the kill track to anticipate when the game will enter its final frenzy.
