Air Raid 36/46 is an easy to learn WW2 Air Combat Game. It also doesn't take much time to play and scales very well with increasing number of aircrafts controlled. Two players are at least needed but plenty more one each side can join the game. The more units the longer the game takes but it scales really well in terms of gameplay and keeping the overview. The game is played on hex-field maps. It is turn-based and consists of an initiative phase, movement and fire phase. Damage is taken and casualities will be removed at the end phase simultaneously from the board. The faster a plane moves - the wider the turn it makes. There are also numerous maneuvers available. Players will be able to turn the tide of battle with their skill and dice rolls. Air Raid 36/46 focuses on having fun and excitement at the table. Despite the light-weight and fluent gameplay all statistics of the planes have been researched with care from historical facts.

There is no administrative burden with tracking damage, ammo etc. on a record sheet. Everything you need to remember will be attached with a chip to the base of the aircraft model. Only one statistic card per type of aircraft model is needed at the table. The aircraft models themselves come at a very high quality and are made of metal. Scale is 1/200 which avoids flimsy parts breaking off and keeps the models at an acceptable size.

Beside the rules, maps, counters and stat cards the base box contains models from the pacific theatre. These are three P40, three Zeros and 4 Japanese light bombers. The scenarios that come with the rulebook offer situations and objectives as a change to head-on dockfights.

There is also more than 40 miniatures released from different theatres and nations like English, German, French, Spanish etc. The timeline starts at 1936 from the Spanish civil war and will be covered to a fictional ongoing war past 1945 and later theatres. Blisters with multiple fighters are already released as well.
