Setup
Separate the red-backed (single symbol) and black-backed (multiple symbols) cards. Each player gets two red-backed cards and five black-backed cards, placed face down. Place the remaining red-backed cards back in the box, and the remaining black-backed cards form a face-down draw pile. Flip the top card of the draw pile face up in the center. Place butter tokens (points) within reach.
The rules, step by step

Next, shuffle the black-backed cards and deal five to each player, placing them face down in front of them, forming each player's personal tableau. The remaining black-backed cards form a face-down draw pile in the center of the playing area. Flip the top card of this draw pile face up to start the central discard pile. Finally, place the butter tokens (which represent victory points) within easy reach of all players.

From this point, all players play at the same time, racing to find a match. The first player to spot a match must loudly call out the name of the matching symbol and then immediately place their matching card on top of the card it matched (either the central card or an opponent's card), covering it completely. The newly placed card becomes the new active card for that pile, and its symbols are now used for subsequent matches.
Scoring
A round concludes as soon as one player successfully gets rid of all the cards from their personal tableau. This player must immediately shout "Anarchy Pancakes!" to claim victory for the round. As a reward for winning the round, that player takes one butter token from the general supply.
Game end
The game continues over multiple rounds. The first player to accumulate a total of two butter tokens across these rounds is declared the ultimate winner of Anarchy Pancakes.
