Arcadia Quest

To set up Arcadia Quest, each player selects three heroes to form their guild. The game board is modular, constructed from square tiles arranged according to the specific scenario outlined in the campaign book. Monster cards, quest tokens, doors, portals, and other relevant game elements are placed on the board as detailed in the campaign book. Players also prepare their individual guild boards, equipping their heroes with starting items and placing any death curses incurred from previous campaign scenarios.

The primary objective in Arcadia Quest is to win scenarios by being the first player to complete a predetermined number of quest objectives. These objectives are detailed on quest cards and can vary, including tasks like defeating specific monsters, interacting with certain tokens on the board, or engaging in player-versus-player combat to defeat rival heroes. In a campaign, players progress through a series of scenarios, with their heroes, items, and accumulated wealth carrying over from one scenario to the next.

A player's turn consists of two main options: activating a hero or resting their entire guild. When activating a hero, the player can move that hero up to three spaces and/or perform an attack action. Movement can involve traversing spaces or using portals, which count as one movement space to teleport between matching portals. Attacking involves rolling dice based on the equipped weapon and attempting to match success symbols against a monster's health or a rival hero's defense. If a player chooses to rest their guild, all exhausted items become available again, and any defeated heroes from that guild respawn at their starting area on the board.

Players earn coins for defeating monsters, with the amount often indicated on the monster's card. These coins can be used to purchase new items and upgrades between scenarios. Completing quest objectives yields various rewards, including new items, weapons, spells, or special abilities. In a campaign, these rewards and accumulated wealth are retained, allowing heroes to grow stronger over time. There are also 'first player bonuses' for being the first to complete certain objectives, adding a competitive edge to quest completion.

A scenario concludes immediately when any player successfully completes the required number of quest objectives for that scenario. In a campaign, players then proceed to an upgrade phase where they can spend earned coins, acquire new items, and manage their heroes' equipment before moving on to the next scenario. The overall campaign ends after a series of scenarios, typically culminating in a final showdown in the center of Arcadia, where the player who achieves the final victory condition is declared the ultimate winner.
