Ashes Reborn: Rise of the Phoenixborn

Setting up Ashes Reborn involves each player selecting one of the included Phoenixborn characters, grabbing their corresponding main deck, conjuration deck, and specified magic dice. Players take five unique cards for their opening hand and place the remaining main deck face-down as a draw pile while setting up the dice pools, wound tokens, exhaustion tokens, and status tokens.

The main objective of Ashes Reborn is to eliminate your opponent by dealing enough damage to their Phoenixborn character to reduce its life value to zero. Players summon allies, cast powerful spells, and engage in tactical combat on the battlefield to bypass enemy defenses and strike the opposing Phoenixborn directly.

During a player's turn, they must execute one main action, such as playing a card, attacking an enemy unit, or casting a spell, and they may optionally take one side action, such as using a dice power or activating certain spell abilities. Play alternates back and forth until all players pass consecutively, leading into the recovery phase.

While there is no point-based scoring system, success is measured purely in tactical dominance and reducing enemy life values. Players manage wounds and exhaustion tokens on cards to track damage dealt and control active abilities during active combat engagements.

The game concludes when a single Phoenixborn has sustained damage equal to or greater than its total life value, resulting in their defeat. In multi-player setups, the remaining players continue battling until only one survivor remains standing victorious.
