The rules, step by step

Setup
Axis & Allies: 1942 Online pits 1 to 5 players in the role of world leaders during World War II. Players take the side of either the Allies—comprising the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Soviet Union—or the Axis powers, consisting of Germany and Japan. Each player commands their respective nation's armed forces across a digital map of the world, managing territories, production credits, and military units to wage strategic warfare against their opponents.
Objective
The main objective of Axis & Allies: 1942 is to achieve total victory over opposing nations by capturing critical territory, dominating key strategic regions, and ultimately controlling designated victory cities on the game map to secure your faction's dominance.
On your turn
Gameplay proceeds in turns following a strict five-phase structure for each player: Purchase new units using IPCs, plan and execute Combat Moves to invade enemy territories, resolve Combat dice rolls in contested zones, perform Non-Combat Moves to reposition defensive forces, and finally Mobilize newly purchased units into territories with industrial complexes.
Scoring
Territories on the map provide Industrial Production Credits (IPCs), which serve as the game's primary currency. These credits are added to a player's income at the end of their turn and are used during the purchase phase to acquire land, sea, air, and industrial units.
Game end
The game continues through subsequent player turns following a traditional turn order until a victory condition is met. The game features two win states: the Standard Condition, where the Allies hold 10 victory cities and the Axis hold 9, or the Total Condition, where either side successfully captures and holds all 13 victory cities on the board.
Tips
Before diving into online matches, new players should review tutorials covering specific unit statistics, aircraft landing rules, and tactical maneuvers. Proper resource allocation and coordination between allied nations are crucial for securing victory.
