Babylonia

Babylonia is a strategic board game created by designer Reiner Knizia, suitable for two to four players aged fourteen and older, with an average playtime of sixty minutes. The game features an abstract map where players place various types of tiles, including nobles and peasants, to conquer territories and score points. The size of the map adjusts according to the number of players, ensuring balanced gameplay whether you are playing in a small group or a full four-player match.

The primary goal in Babylonia is to surround cities and cultivate farms on the game board to accumulate the most points by the end of the game. Players also compete to dominate ziggurats and secure majority control over specific regions to earn special bonus tiles and additional points.

During a player's turn, they may place either two different non-peasant tiles or any number of peasant tiles onto the board, provided they adhere to placement restrictions. These placements allow players to build chains around cities and establish control over key agricultural and urban areas across the map.

Scoring happens dynamically throughout the game as cities and ziggurats are surrounded and evaluated. Cities score points based on the connected noble symbols around them and the number of surrounding player pieces. Ziggurats reward the player with the most adjacent pieces with special tiles that grant powerful bonuses and extra points.

The game concludes when all end-game triggers are met, leading to a final tally of all accumulated points on the score track. The player who has successfully navigated the map, secured the most valuable cities, and gathered the highest total score is declared the winner.
