"The enemy will be crushed along the shortest route to Berlin. The capital of fascist Germany will be taken and the banner of victory planted over it." Gregory Zhukov, April 15, 1945

After years of fighting and millions dead the Red Army has finally pushed the fascist invaders out of the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe and is poised to capture the capital of Germany's Third Reich, the city of Berlin. There can be little question Berlin must be included with names like Stalingrad, Cassino, Manila, and Okinawa as one of the most costly and destructive battles of the entire Second World War. The campaign by the Soviet First Belorussian Front and First Ukrainian Front has been depicted by a handful of two-player de signs in the past but is presented here in a new and exciting SOLITAIRE format, the third in a series of single-player area movement games by publisher Take Aim Designs.

Berlin: Fall of the Reich, 1945 puts the player in charge of the war-weary but experienced and determined Red Army while the game system handles the defending and largely static German side. No two games will ever be the same. Each turn presents new and unique challenges for the player in form of random events uncertain supply deliveries, and unknown German area strengths and defensive strategies.

The game is a nine-turn campaign covering the Soviet Union's assault on the city during April and May 1945 The deeper Soviet forces advance, from the city's suburbs to its industrial districts and fortress-like govern ment buildings, the greater German resistance becomes. The number of Soviet units fought to exhaustion. effectively out of action, mounts. But there can be no rest. Stalin is watching and expects you to capture the German Reichstag by May Day. The player wins by compelling the German defenders to surrender and loses if Stalin's approval falls too low.

With a setup time of less than 15 minutes, low counter density, endless variability, and quick playing time Berlin: Fall of the Reich, 1945 will appeal to every level of player, from the novice to the grognard.

Few battles at the send of the Second World War exceeded the destruction and brutality of the fighting in the city of Berlin. Will you be among those awarded with the title Hero of the Soviet Union or will you incur Stalin's wrath? The decisions you make will determine your fate as the war in Europe ends.
