Blank Slate

To set up the game, lay out the scoreboard on the table. Each player receives a slate and a dry-erase marker. Players then write their names next to their matching color on the scoreboard. One player is chosen to be the first selector. The selector draws a word cue from the draw side of the box, reads it aloud for everyone to hear, and then places it face up on the table for all players to see.

The main goal of Blank Slate is to be the first player to accumulate a total of 25 points. Players earn points by matching their answers with exactly one other player, demonstrating their ability to think alike.

During a turn, after the selector has revealed the word cue, every other player must write a single-word answer on their slate. The answer should be based on the cue, and players should try to choose a word that they believe only one other player will also choose. Answers must be a single word, but they can be any word. However, answers cannot be a single letter. Acceptable answers include single syllables, words that form a compound word with the cue, or words that create a proper noun when combined with the cue.

Once all players have written their answers, they reveal them simultaneously. Points are then scored based on how many players wrote the same answer. If a player has a unique answer that no other player wrote down, they score 0 points. If a player's answer was written by three or more total players (including themselves), they score 1 point. The most desirable outcome is to have an answer that exactly one other player wrote down; in this case, both players score 3 points.

The game continues with rounds of play until one player successfully reaches or exceeds 25 points. As soon as a player hits this score, the game immediately ends, and that player is declared the winner.
