The main objective is to gather the most blood echoes by the end of the game. Players work together to defeat challenging monsters and bosses, but ultimately compete individually for the highest score.

Setup involves distributing player boards, cards, and blood echo tokens. Each player starts with a hand of standard combat cards and their character setup while monsters and bosses are queued up in the center for the group to face.

Each turn follows a strict sequence: players secretly choose a card from their hand, reveal them simultaneously, and then execute any transformation effects. Afterward, monsters attack first, followed by human counterattacks, dealing damage based on card stats.

Scoring happens dynamically as players deal damage, defeat monsters, and collect blood echoes. Surviving encounters and claiming hunter's dreams add to your final tally.

The game concludes after all bosses have been faced and defeated. Final blood echoes are counted, and the player with the highest total is declared the winner.

Pay close attention to monster attack rolls and timing your card plays. Knowing when to retreat to the hunter's dream to recover can save your life and secure valuable card upgrades.
