Setup

Players take turns placing their eight tree tokens on the board, each with a value from 1 to 4, at the intersections of the grid.

The rules, step by step

Setup
To set up the game, each player receives eight tree tokens (two of each value from 1 to 4) and a supply of leaf tokens. Players take turns placing their tree tokens on the intersections of the grid on the game board. The wind board is placed to the side, and a score track is set up with one leaf token from each player. A start player is randomly chosen and given the Hiker token.
Objective
The objective of Bosk is to accumulate the most points by strategically placing your trees and leaves to gain majority control in rows, columns, and regions throughout the different seasons of the game.
On your turn
The game proceeds through four seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. In Spring, players place their trees. In Autumn, players take turns selecting a leaf tile from their hand (values 2 through 5, and a special squirrel leaf) and placing leaves from one of their trees onto the board. The number of leaves placed corresponds to the leaf tile's value, and they must be placed in the direction indicated by the current wind direction marker. Players can replace an opponent's leaf by spending an additional leaf token.
Scoring
Scoring occurs in two phases: Summer and Winter. During Summer scoring, each row and column is scored. Players add up the values of their trees in each row/column, and the player with the highest total receives 2 points, while the second-highest receives 1 point (with tie-breaking rules). During Winter scoring, each of the four regions on the board is scored. Players count the number of terrain squares controlled by their leaves in each region. The player with the most controlled squares in a region receives 5 points, and the second-highest receives 3 points (with tie-breaking rules).
Game end
The game concludes after all eight tree tokens have been utilized and all leaves have been placed on the board. Following the final Winter scoring phase, all points from both Summer and Winter scoring are tallied. The player with the highest total score is declared the winner of Bosk.
Tips
Consider both immediate and long-term scoring opportunities. Placing trees strategically in Spring is crucial for Summer scoring. In Autumn, think about how the wind direction will affect your leaf placement and try to block opponents or secure key regions for Winter scoring. Utilizing squirrel leaves can be powerful for claiming important spots that might otherwise be contested.
