The rules, step by step
Setup
For a two-player game, set up the basic side of the main board. Each player receives a set of witch meeples placed on their designated starting spaces. Resources like potion tokens, wands, and clouds are arranged nearby. Each player is dealt a complete hand of ten role cards, from which they will secretly choose four cards at the start of each round to determine their available actions.
Objective
The main objective of Broom Service is to score the most victory points by traveling around the board and delivering magic potions to various towers. Players act as witches, utilizing druids and weather fairies to gather resources, clear weather anomalies, and deliver potions over the course of seven rounds.
On your turn
Each round begins with players secretly selecting four role cards. The starting player announces a role card they are playing and chooses whether to play it bravely or cowardly. Clockwise, other players must also play that role if they have it. The brave action yields greater rewards but carries the risk of being trumped if another player also plays bravely, whereas the cowardly action always succeeds with lesser rewards. Turns proceed around the table until all selected roles are played.
Scoring
Points are scored throughout the game by delivering potions to matching towers, which also grants wands and additional points for brave deliveries. At the end of the game, players earn bonus points based on the number of lightning bolts they have accumulated and any leftover resources, according to the reference card.
Game end
The game ends after the completion of the seventh round. Players then tally their final scores, adding points from end-game bonuses for lightning symbols and remaining resources, and the player with the highest total points is declared the winner.
Tips
Pay close attention to your opponent's card choices and board position. Bluffing and timing your brave actions correctly can deny your opponent bonuses and secure critical tower deliveries, while managing your hand size prevents detrimental event card penalties.
