Canvas

To set up Canvas, place the main play mat in the center of the table and place four scoring cards onto the designated spaces. Sort the ribbon tokens into five piles next to their matching symbols on the mat. Shuffle the art cards and place the deck on its space, then reveal five art cards face-up in a row next to it. Give each player a set of background cards inserted into plastic sleeves, three starting art cards, and four inspiration tokens. Any leftover components are returned to the box.

Players take on the role of artists participating in an art festival. The goal is to collect art cards and slip them into transparent sleeves along with a background card to create layered paintings, earning ribbons and points to become the best artist.

On your turn, you must choose one of two actions: acquire an art card or complete a painting. To take a card, you may pick the closest one for free or skip cards by placing one inspiration token on each skipped card. If you hold five or more art cards, you are forced to complete a painting instead of taking a new card.

When completing a painting, select three art cards from your hand and slide them over a background card in any order. Compare the visible symbols on your finished painting to the four scoring cards on the mat to claim ribbons. Each matching condition or bonus symbol grants you corresponding ribbon tokens, which will be converted into victory points at the end of the game.

The game triggers its conclusion as soon as every player at the table has completed and revealed three paintings. Finish the current round if necessary so everyone has an equal number of turns, then proceed to final scoring.
