Setup
Begin your journey by selecting a map sheet, ensuring you have pencils ready, and setting up the exploration, ambush, and hero decks alongside the four scoring edicts labelled A through B, C, and D. Shuffle the explore deck, incorporating ambush and hero cards based on your campaign round, and prepare your season tracker for Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter.

Your primary quest is to chart new territories, fulfill the queen's edicts, outsmart fearsome monsters, and accumulate reputation stars to prove your legendary cartography skills.
On your turn
On your turn, reveal an explore card indicating a terrain type and shape. Draw this shape onto your map, rotating or mirroring it as needed. Gain coins by surrounding mountains or clearing ruins, and use hero cards to vanquish monsters.
Scoring
At the conclusion of each season, score specific edict cards as indicated on the season card. Gain extra points for collected coins, and deduct points if monsters are left uncovered.
Game end
The game concludes after completing all four seasons, tallying total reputation stars and queen rewards to determine your final title.
