Catch a Dragon by the Tail

Catch a Dragon by the Tail is a super-simple free print and play game. It's press-your-luck dice game for two to four players with a "hatching dragons" fantasy theme.

At the start of your turn you roll four custom six-sided dice (or standard dice that you cross-reference with a table), then choose to gather identical dice or different dice. After you do, you can stop rolling and score or you can roll the dice you haven't collected.

Homogenous sets of dice score the best: two dice score four points, three score nine, four score 16. Consecutive dice score second-best, with a run of two scoring four, three scoring six, and four scoring eight. "Loner" dice score one point each.

If you choose to roll again, what you roll may make you end your turn and score nothing. • If you're collecting identical dice and you don't get at least one result that matches what you're collecting, your turn ends and you score nothing. • If you're collecting different dice and at least one result matches a die you already have, your turn ends and you score nothing. ...Otherwise, you may collect one or more valid dice and choose to stop and score or roll the un-collected dice yet again.

The game ends after four rounds. The highest score wins. Break ties with an additional round of play.
