The objective is to construct the most efficient and valuable dwarven cave system. Players excavate mountain tiles, build walls, and construct various orange and blue rooms that provide resources, abilities, and victory points.

Each player receives a personal cave board featuring pre-printed walls and starting goods including food, grain, wood, stone, flax, and emmer. Action tiles are revealed progressively across eight rounds, and unique room tiles are shuffled and randomly distributed into caves.

On a turn, a player selects an available action tile from the current round's display, performing the indicated actions such as excavating, harvesting, or building. Action tiles are limited per round, so careful turn order and resource management are crucial.

Scoring happens at the very end of the game. Players sum the point values printed on all successfully constructed room tiles in their cave, plus any remaining gold, with each gold piece worth one point.

The game concludes after the final actions of the eighth round are completed, followed immediately by the final score calculation to determine the winner.
