Caverna: The Cave Farmers

To set up Caverna: The Cave Farmers, place the main game board and supply boards in the center. Give each player a personal farm board, two dwarf meeples, a stable, dwellings, and initial resources. Arrange the action spaces according to the round markers, and place the furnishing tiles and mine/cave tiles in their respective piles.

The main objective of Caverna is to build the most prosperous dwarf family and cave farm. Players must tunnel into mountains, excavate mines, plant crops, raise various livestock, and furnish their caverns with rooms that provide special abilities and end-game victory points.

Each round introduces a new action space. Players take turns placing their dwarf workers onto available actions to gather resources, tunnel, sow, breed animals, or build rooms. After all workers are placed, players retrieve them, handle harvests, and prepare for the next round.

At the end of the game, points are awarded for dwarves, rooms, ore, rubies, dogs, sheep, donkeys, wild boars, cattle, grain, and vegetables. Players lose points for unoccupied farm board spaces and unbred animal types, making balanced growth essential.

The game spans 12 rounds. Harvests occur at designated intervals where crops are collected, animals breed, and dwarves must be fed using food acquired throughout the rounds.
