Setup
To set up the game, first place the score track on the table. Each player selects a colored marker and places it on the '0' space of the score track. Shuffle all the cards and place the deck face-down next to the score track. Deal three cards to each player, keeping them hidden from opponents. Then, draw four cards from the top of the deck and place them face-up next to the score track to form the market. Finally, draw four more cards from the deck and place them face-up in the center of the table to form the initial game board, leaving card-sized spaces between them. Ensure that no predator cards are among these initial four game board cards; if one is drawn, reshuffle it into the deck and draw a new card.

Points are gained immediately after playing a card. The number of points awarded depends on whether the conditions indicated on the card are met. For example, a chick card might award 1 point if its condition is not met, but 3 additional points (totaling 4) if it is placed adjacent to specific colored cards as indicated on the card. Cards with single arrows award points only for cards in the direction of the arrow, while cards with double arrows award points for cards in both indicated directions.
