Chronicles of Crime: 2400

To set up Chronicles of Crime 2400, place the evidence board in the center and organize the decks of character, special item, and evidence category cards. Lay out the stack of location cards, making sure the home location is in play along with your cyber raven companion. Set out the implant board and place the four cyber implant cards face down beside it. Finally, load the free companion app to select your scenario, ranging from the tutorial to full story cases.

The main objective is to solve futuristic crimes set in the year 2400. Players act as high-tech detectives utilizing cybernetic enhancements and a robot companion to investigate crime scenes, interview real-world characters and digital avatars, gather clues, and ultimately solve the mystery by answering key case questions correctly in the app.

During a turn, players use the app to travel between locations, investigate crime scenes, and interview characters by scanning QR codes found on the physical cards. You can utilize your personal cyber implants for special upgrades at the cost of energy, or deploy your cyber raven to analyze data and search the web for clues. Players can also plug directly into cyberspace to interact with digital avatars, though this restricts normal tool use and consumes energy.

Scoring is not based on traditional points. Instead, success is measured by how accurately you solve the case. At the end of the investigation, the app will ask a series of questions regarding the perpetrators, motives, and evidence, and your final performance is graded based on your correct conclusions.

The game ends when the players decide they have gathered enough evidence and choose to conclude the investigation within the app. After submitting their answers to the final case questions, the app provides a full debriefing and score for the scenario.
