The rules, step by step
Setup
To set up Clank! In! Space!, assemble the modular spaceship board according to the chosen scenario. Place artifacts of varying values in their designated rooms, shuffle the market and adventure decks, and distribute starting decks and clank cubes to each player. Set Lord Eradikus's rage track and prepare the metal token upgrades if you are using custom accessories.
Objective
The main objective is to sneak aboard Lord Eradikus's flagship, steal a valuable artifact, and escape via the shuttle pods before the ship's rage reaches maximum capacity. Players must balance greed with survival, as staying too long increases the danger of taking fatal damage.
On your turn
On your turn, draw five cards from your deck and play them to generate skill, swords, and boots. Skill is used to acquire new cards from the market row, boots allow movement through the ship's corridors, and swords combat minions. Any generated clank adds cubes to the pool, which can be drawn during enemy attacks.
Scoring
Scoring happens after players escape or are eliminated. Points are tallied from the artifacts you successfully carry off the ship, bonuses from master artifacts, remaining currency, and specific card abilities. Players who fail to escape before the game ends receive zero points for artifacts.
Game end
The game triggers its final phase once the first player successfully escapes and reaches the endgame countdown. All remaining players get a limited number of turns to escape the ship. Once the countdown expires, any player still inside the spaceship is eliminated and disqualified from winning.
Tips
For the best experience, incorporate official expansions like Cyber Station 11 and Pulsarcade, which introduce new board layouts and alternate escape routes. Utilizing unofficial metal tokens instead of cardboard chits also enhances durability and overall tactile gameplay quality.
