Clans of Caledonia

Set up the game by assembling the modular board tiles to form the game map, ensuring the border letters align clockwise. Each player takes a player board, matching color meeples, and starting markers. Randomly place export contracts, random scoring tiles, and setup resources according to the player count. Players draft clan boards and initial resources in snake order, placing their starting meeples on valid terrain hexes while paying necessary costs.

The main objective in Clans of Caledonia is to lead your Scottish clan to economic prosperity during the 19th-century industrial revolution. Players expand their territory, trade goods, fulfill profitable export contracts, and advance their technology tracks to maximize their power and score the most victory points.

A game lasts for exactly five rounds, each divided into four phases: preparation, action, production, and scoring. During the action phase, players take turns performing up to seven different actions, including trading goods, acquiring export contracts, expanding across the map, improving technology, fulfilling contracts, or passing to end their turn. Players can also claim free bonus tiles if their marker allows.

Scoring happens during the final scoring phase of each round and at the end of the game. Points are awarded based on active scoring tiles, unlocked technology levels, completed export contracts, remaining money, and the size of connected territory networks on the board.

The game concludes automatically at the end of the fifth round. Final scoring is conducted, tallying points from all categories including basic resources, processed goods, money, individual export contracts, and connected village networks. The player with the most victory points wins.
