Coal Baron

Coal Baron setup involves laying out the central board, which displays various worker-placement actions, delivery locations, and order cards. Each player receives a personal player board representing their coal mine with four levels, an elevator shaft, storage areas, a supply of workers, and initial starting money. A subset of order cards and mine tiles are also dealt to kick off the game.

The main objective is to become the most successful coal baron by efficiently managing your mine, extracting coal from different levels, acquiring transportation carts, and fulfilling valuable customer orders to earn victory points.

On your turn, you place one or more of your workers on available action spaces on the central board. Actions allow you to collect money, purchase carts, draw or fulfill order cards, or send the elevator cage down into the mine to extract coal cubes from illuminated or dark tunnels.

Scoring happens at the end of each round. Points are awarded progressively based on the amount of coal mined, the types of delivery vehicles used, and completed orders. Penalties also apply if your mine is unbalanced or if you fail to fulfill orders.

The game concludes after three full rounds of play. Once all rounds are finished and final scoring adjustments are calculated, the player with the highest total of victory points is crowned the winner.
