Codex Naturalis

The main objective is to assemble a manuscript by strategically placing cards to create resource combinations, fulfill secret and common objectives, and maximize your final score.

Set up Codex Naturalis by placing the scoring board in the center and giving each player two wooden tokens, one starter card, and two hidden objective cards to choose from. Shuffle the resource, gold, and common objective decks, placing them alongside revealed cards.

During a turn, a player plays one card from their hand onto their table, respecting corner overlaps and resource costs, then draws a replacement card from either the resource or gold deck.

Points are scored throughout the game from specific card abilities and at the end from common and secret objective cards based on manuscript patterns.

The game triggers its ending phase when any player reaches twenty points or when card decks are completely exhausted.

Pay close attention to resource requirements and plan your card overlaps carefully to avoid blocking future plays.
