Setup
To set up Colt Express, first construct the 3D train carriages and line them up on the table. Place the designated loot tokens (purses, jewels, and strongboxes) inside the various carriages according to the rules. Position the outlaw pawns inside the train, set up the yellow sheriff pawn in the locomotive, and decorate the play area with cactus and scenery markers.

On your turn
During a round, players take turns playing action cards face-down into a central pile. Players must anticipate opponents' moves since actions are resolved sequentially in the order they were played.
Scoring
Scoring is determined at the end of the game by calculating the monetary value of all loot tokens collected by each player. The bandit with the highest total value wins the game.

The game officially concludes after five full rounds have been completed and all actions resolved.
