Concordia Venus

For Concordia Venus, special starting cards are used, replacing the base game's Concordia cards. The purchase area is replaced by a two-sided board, which is placed next to the map. Players decide which side of the board to use for the game. In team mode, each player receives an additional turn marker to help track whose turn it is, as team interactions can make this less clear. The expansion also introduces two new maps.

The primary objective of Concordia Venus remains consistent with the base game: players (or teams in team mode) aim to accumulate the highest total score by the end of the game. Points are earned through various means, including establishing trading posts, controlling provinces, and playing personality cards, with specific scoring adjustments for the new Venus cards in team play.

During a player's turn, they play a personality card from their hand and execute its action. In team mode, when a player plays a card, their teammate also executes the action of that same card. Some new cards are introduced: the Magister (Teacher) card, used only in individual games, allows a player to copy the action of their previously played card (excluding the Senator). For team games, the Senator, Consul, and Magister cards are not used. Instead, new Praetor (Governor), Proconsul (Proconsul), and Legatus (Ambassador) cards are introduced. The Diplomat card has been updated: a player cannot copy a teammate's card, nor can they copy a card that a teammate has already copied.

Scoring in Concordia Venus largely follows the base game's rules, but with specific additions for the Venus cards, particularly in team mode. For individual games, the Venus card scores 2 points for each province where the player has at least two trading posts. In team mode, the Venus card scores 2 points for each province where both the player and their teammate each have at least one trading post. At the end of the game, the scores of both players in a team are combined, and the team with the highest total score wins.

The game concludes when a team meets the end-game condition, which typically involves building all their trading posts or purchasing all available personality cards. Once this condition is met, all other teams are granted one final turn to complete their actions and maximize their scores. After these final turns, all points are tallied, and the winning team is determined.
