Setup

Each player gets a building board, 3 balls of each of the 6 colors, and 10 scoring tokens.

The rules, step by step

Setup
Each player receives a personal building board, which has spaces for stacking balls. Players also get 3 balls of each of the 6 colors (white, orange, black, green, blue, red), totaling 18 balls. Additionally, each player starts with 10 scoring tokens, which represent their initial score. The 60 challenge cards are shuffled and placed face down to form a draw pile. A sand timer (or a digital timer app) is prepared for timing rounds.
Objective
The main objective of Dimension is to accumulate the most points by the end of the game. Points are primarily earned by successfully stacking balls on your building board in a way that satisfies as many of the round's challenge rules as possible. Bonus points can also be earned for exceptional performance in meeting all rules and using all colors.
On your turn
The game is played over 6 rounds. At the beginning of each round, 6 challenge cards are drawn from the deck and revealed, setting the rules for that round. All players then simultaneously have 1 minute (timed by the sand timer or app) to stack as many of their colored balls as possible onto their building board. Players must try to adhere to the rules shown on the revealed challenge cards while stacking. There is a maximum of 11 balls that can be stacked on a board.
Scoring
Once the 1-minute timer runs out, players stop stacking. First, each player earns 1 point for every ball they successfully placed on their board. Next, players check their completed structure against each of the 6 challenge cards. For every rule that was NOT satisfied, the player loses 2 scoring tokens. If a player manages to satisfy all 6 challenge rules AND has used at least one ball of each of the 6 colors in their structure, they earn a bonus scoring token. The value of these bonus tokens increases with each round (1 point for the first, 3 for the second, 6 for the third, and so on).
Game end
The game concludes after 6 full rounds have been played. Players then tally their total score by adding up all their remaining scoring tokens and any bonus tokens they collected throughout the game. The player with the highest total score is declared the winner. In case of a tie, the player with more bonus tokens wins. If still tied, the player with more balls on their board wins.
Tips
To maximize your score, it's crucial to quickly identify which challenge rules are easiest to meet and which might conflict. Sometimes, it's better to intentionally break a less valuable rule to ensure you satisfy more valuable ones. Aiming for the bonus token is often a good strategy, as it provides a significant point boost. Practice can greatly improve your ability to quickly analyze the rules and plan your stack within the time limit. Consider playing the solo variant to hone your skills without competitive pressure.
