Setup

Place the central island boards, shuffle tile decks, organize general supplies, and give each player their player board, starting meeples, and coins.

The rules, step by step

Setup
Game setup involves placing the three central island boards in the middle of the table, organizing all attraction, special building, and dinosaur paddock tile decks, and setting up the public notice board with the round, excitement, and victory point markers. General supply piles are created for workers, dino meeples, coins, death tokens, security/threat/victory markers, and attack dice. Each player takes a lab board, resource markers, park board, welcome center tile, initial jeep bonus token, and starting coins determined by turn order. Initial tile drafts are conducted for dinosaur paddocks and special buildings, ensuring every player starts with a foundational park layout ready for action.
Objective
The main objective of Dinosaur World is to construct and manage the most thrilling, innovative, and successful dinosaur theme park possible. Players compete to attract visitors, build exciting attractions and unique dinosaur paddocks, manage park security and threat levels, and ultimately score the highest number of victory points by the end of five full rounds of play.
On your turn
Each round in Dinosaur World is divided into five sequential phases: 1) Hire Workers phase where players draft worker meeples from the database; 2) Public Actions phase where workers are placed on central board action spaces to gather DNA, buy tiles, or hire help; 3) Private Actions phase where players perform personal actions on their park boards; 4) Jeep Tour phase where players drive their jeeps through their parks to activate tiles, manage excitement, and roll attack dice; and 5) Income and Cleanup phase where players collect coins, reset markers, and adjust threat levels.
Scoring
Scoring happens dynamically throughout the game and culminates at the end. During final scoring, players convert their remaining coins into victory points at a rate of one point per five coins. Death tokens accumulated from unmanaged park threat are tallied, and players holding the fewest death tokens discard them, while others suffer points penalties based on a sliding scale. Objectives achieved during the game and final park excitement levels also contribute to the final tally.
Game end
The game concludes after the fifth round is fully completed and cleaned up. Once all final scoring procedures for coins and death tokens are finalized, the player with the highest total victory points is declared the winner. In the event of a tie, the tied player with the most remaining dinosaur DNA wins the game.
Tips
Carefully monitor your park's threat level relative to your security track; letting threat exceed security results in devastating death tokens during cleanup. Don't neglect DNA gathering and genetic refinement early on, as high-value dinosaurs drive the excitement needed for maximum scoring during jeep tours.
