Dixit: Daydreams

Dixit Daydreams is an expansion that comes with 84 new cards. These cards can be mixed with the cards from any Dixit base game or other expansions. Alternatively, players can choose to play solely with the Dixit Daydreams cards, using the board and tokens from a Dixit base game like Dixit Odyssey or Dixit Original. The expansion itself does not include a board or tokens, making a base game necessary for a complete play experience, although it is possible to play with just the cards and a custom scoring method.

The main objective of Dixit Daydreams, like other Dixit games, is for players to use their imagination and deduction skills to score points. As a storyteller, your goal is to give a clue that is neither too obvious nor too obscure, ensuring that some, but not all, players guess your card. As a regular player, your goal is to correctly identify the storyteller's card among the played cards and to have other players mistakenly choose your card as the storyteller's.

Each turn, one player becomes the storyteller. The storyteller chooses one card from their hand and gives a clue (a word, phrase, or sentence) related to the image on that card. All other players then choose a card from their own hand that they believe best matches the storyteller's clue. All chosen cards are shuffled and revealed face-up. Players then secretly vote for the card they think is the storyteller's original card.

Scoring depends on how players vote. If all players or no players guess the storyteller's card, the storyteller receives no points, and other players get 2 points each. If some, but not all, players guess the storyteller's card, both the storyteller and the correct guessers receive 3 points. Additionally, any player whose card was chosen by other players (excluding the storyteller) receives 1 point for each vote their card gets, up to a maximum of 3 points.

The game typically ends when a player reaches a predetermined score, often 30 points, or when the draw pile runs out of cards. The player with the most points at that time is declared the winner. The duration of the game can be adjusted by changing the target score or by playing a fixed number of rounds.
