Setup

Place letter tokens in the middle, remove specific cards based on player count (2-player rules are different), shuffle the remaining cards, and deal them all to players. The player with the 1/5 card starts.

The rules, step by step

Setup
To set up the game, place the letter tokens in the center of the table. Consult the reference card to determine which numbered cards to remove based on the number of players (the video focuses on 3-5 players, so cards with '2' on both sides are removed). Shuffle the remaining cards thoroughly and deal them all out to the players. Each player then looks at their hand and can sort their cards, but they cannot rotate them 180 degrees yet. The player holding the 1/5 card (marked with a star) starts the first round.
Objective
The primary objective of DNUP is to be the first player to accumulate four or more letter tokens. This is achieved by being the first player to successfully play all the cards from your hand in a round, earning two letter tokens, or by being the second player to do so, earning one letter token.
On your turn
A player's turn involves two mandatory steps. First, if you played a set in your previous turn, you must clear those cards from in front of you and place them on a discard pile. Second, you must perform exactly one of four possible actions: A) Play a set from your hand in front of you (it must be stronger than any existing set of the same size, or if no set of that size exists, you can play any set). B) Add a single card from your hand to an existing set in front of another player (the added card's value must match the set's value, and the resulting set must be stronger than any other set of the same size). C) Take a set from in front of another player into your hand, rotating all cards 180 degrees. D) Rotate all cards currently in your hand 180 degrees.
Scoring
Scoring occurs at the end of each round. The first player to successfully play all cards from their hand receives two letter tokens. The second player to empty their hand receives one letter token. All other players do not receive any tokens for that round. The game continues with new rounds until a player meets the winning condition.
Game end
The game concludes immediately at the end of any round in which a player has accumulated four or more letter tokens. That player is declared the winner. If multiple players reach four or more tokens in the same round, the player with the most tokens wins. If there's still a tie, the player among the tied players who emptied their hand first in that round wins.
Tips
Understanding the 'strength' of sets (higher numbers are stronger, and larger sets are stronger than smaller sets) is crucial. Pay attention to what sets other players have in front of them, as you can add to them or take them. The 180-degree flip action can dramatically change your hand's potential, so use it wisely to create new sets or break up unfavorable ones. Knowing when to take a set from an opponent can disrupt their strategy and give you more options.
