Enliven: The Quest for Resurgence

Deep within the land of Hallbrack lies an element of tremendous power, called Ferment Crystal. This rare and stunning substance has long been a source of wonder, capable of performing miracles in the right hands. Yet, when consumed in excess, it turns you volatile, unpredictable… and deadly.

For years, the ruthless tyrant Tronad has scoured other lands in search of this elusive crystal. Obsessed with this power, he has left nothing but ashes and sorrow in his wake, seizing every fragment he could find. Yet, none large enough to satisfy his desire. Now, whispers speak of a massive crystal, hidden somewhere within Hallbrack’s uncharted depths.

This crystal must be found before Tronad claims it and brings ruin to the realm. Players work together to explore diverse locations, uncover clues to the crystal's whereabouts, and track Tronad's movements. As the timeline steadily counts down, heroes must gather new gear, make smart choices, and race against time! Fail this mission, and Hallbrack may be lost forever.

DESCRIPTION: How to play

Goal: The game is won if you manage to find the large ferment crystal, before Tronad - and hide it well. Then fight him.

Choose one hero from the 9 available characters.

You begin your journey by building paths on the large map. The direction of these paths is shaped by your actions and may change as the adventure unfolds. The type of map tile you can place is determined by luck, as tiles are drawn at random from a mixed bag.

You move together along these paths using two standard D6 dice.

The large map represents the land of Hallbrack and reveals all locations you may enter as the story progresses. All discovered locations can be explored to uncover clues, find items, and encounter enemies. Your choices determine the order in which locations appear, and some may be visited more often than others.

Inside each location, players take turns moving independently with their hero by rolling that character’s designated dice. Some heroes move more easily than others, affecting movement options each turn and making hero selection an important early decision.

Item icons within locations indicate which item cards you may view. These cards can provide gear, but more often drive the story forward.

Both inside and outside locations, the Fightboard and Pointboard are used on many occasions.

Your main goal is to find the large ferment crystal and defeat Tronad, though many optional activities can aid you on your adventure.
