Escape: The Curse of the Temple

To set up the game, place the central chamber tile in the middle of the playing area. Shuffle the remaining room tiles and place them face down in a stack. Place the treasure tokens (gems) in a pile nearby. Each player chooses a colored pawn and places it in the central chamber. Each player also receives a set of five dice.

The primary objective of 'Escape: The Curse of the Temple' is for all players to cooperatively collect all the treasure gems from the temple and then escape through the exit tile before the 10-minute timer runs out. If even one player is left behind or not all treasure is collected, the entire team loses.

This is a real-time game with no turns. Players simultaneously roll their five dice as quickly as possible. Dice symbols allow players to perform actions such as exploring new rooms, moving their pawn between adjacent rooms, or collecting treasure gems from the room they are in. If a player rolls a black mask symbol, that die becomes locked and cannot be re-rolled until another player rolls a gold mask symbol, which unlocks all locked dice for all players.

Scoring is cooperative. The team wins if all players successfully exit the temple and all treasure gems have been collected from the rooms. If any player fails to exit the temple, or if any treasure gems remain in the temple when the 10-minute timer expires, all players lose the game.

The game is played with a 10-minute soundtrack that acts as a timer. When the soundtrack ends, the game is over. If all players have exited the temple and all treasure gems have been collected, the team wins. If not, the team loses. There are also advanced rules and curses that can be added to increase difficulty, such as being unable to speak or having to roll with one hand behind your back.
