In Evacuation, life on our planet is being burned away thanks to increasingly intense sunlight, so everyone is trying to move all the people and factories in their territories from the "old" planet to a new one — and they have only four rounds in which to do so.
You start the board game with a full functioning economy, and over the course of play, you must dismantle that economy and move it. Income on the old planet shrinks over time, and production probably won't be much better until you establish yourself on the new planet and kick things into action. Resources can't be mixed across the planets, so you need to take special care with your planning.
To do this, you choose actions from the player board, with the expert variant adding cards to your hand management that allow you to choose additional actions and combine them. Each action has its own value, and the sum of these actions is important for an "end of the round" bonus. Additionally, players move their markers along the orbital track based on the value of their actions.
If you can raise production of three resources to level 8 and have three stadiums on the new planet, you win. Otherwise, players compare scores after four rounds. Evacuation includes modules to add new play options.

The rules, step by step
Setup
To set up, place the game board and action tokens within reach of all players. Separate the population cards into two decks: infected (biohazard symbol) and healthy (heart symbol). Based on the chosen difficulty level (intro, regular, hard, expert), remove a specific number of certain citizen types (hostile, family, celebrity, chaotic, carrier, volatile) from these decks and return them to the box. Shuffle the remaining infected cards and deal a number of them into a pile based on the chosen difficulty. Then, shuffle these dealt infected cards with the healthy population cards to create a face-down population deck, which is placed in the designated area on the game board. The remaining infected cards are placed face-down in the infection supply area. Shuffle the Raxxon cards into a face-down pile and place them in their designated area. Place the Raxxon power token on the zero space of the Raxxon power track. Finally, each player chooses one of the double-sided character sheets, ensuring the side showing the correct player count (1-2 players or 3-4 players) is face-up. Randomly select a first player.

On your turn
Each day is broken into three phases: crowd setup, player actions, and end of day. The player actions phase begins with the first player, and then proceeds clockwise around the table. On your turn, you'll choose to either take your turn or pass. If you pass, all of your other turns for the rest of that day's round will be skipped. If you take your turn, you'll perform three steps in order: trigger all active consequences for your character, choose an available action on your character sheet, and perform that chosen action. Consequences are resolved from top to bottom, left to right. If a consequence is triggered, the token is left in place, meaning it will resolve again during that player's next turn. You can end your turn after resolving any single symbol, even if it's part of a pairing, which is the same as passing. To choose an action, there must be an empty action space to its left. Once an action is chosen, place a token in its leftmost space and perform the action as described in its description. The Investigate action can always be used and does not add further consequences.
Scoring
The game is cooperative, meaning all players win or lose together. You win immediately if every healthy card (20 for intro game, 30 for other difficulties) is in the evacuation pile. You lose immediately if you need to draw from the infection supply and there are no cards left, or if the Raxxon tracker reaches 8.
Game end
The game ends in one of three possible ways. First, if all healthy cards are in the evacuation pile, the team immediately wins. Second, if you need to draw from the infection supply and there are no cards there, you lose. Third, if the Raxxon tracker reaches 8, Raxxon takes over the city, and you lose. At the end of each day, flip all remaining face-down cards in the crowd face-up (do not trigger 'when flipped' symbols). Count the total number of infected cards in the crowd and uncontained quarantine area. Move that many cards from the infection supply, face-up, into the population discard pile (up to a maximum of four). Collect all cards from the crowd, uncontained quarantine, and population discard pile, then shuffle them into the population draw pile to create a new deck. Move cards from the contained quarantine to the uncontained quarantine. Clear all action tokens from character sheets. The player to the left of the most recent active player becomes the new active player and begins a new day by setting up a new crowd.
