Setup
Each player starts with a barn card, four orange-backed cards are the initial offer, and animal tokens are placed aside.
The rules, step by step
Setup
Each player begins the game with one barn card, which serves as their starting farm. Four orange-backed cards are placed face-up to form the initial offer. The remaining deck of cards is shuffled and placed face-down. All animal tokens are placed in a general supply to the side of the playing area.
Objective
The main goal is for players to strategically build their farm by adding cards and animals, aiming to accumulate the highest total score from their animals and cornfields by the end of the game.
On your turn
On your turn, you must select one of the four face-up cards from the offer. If you choose a field card, you immediately add it to your farm, ensuring that fences align with fences and grass areas align with grass areas. If you choose an animal card, you take the corresponding animal tokens from the general supply and place them on any available spaces within your farm. After placing your chosen card or animals, you draw a new card from the deck to replenish the offer to four cards.
Scoring
At the end of the game, points are calculated based on your farm. Animals that are completely enclosed within a pen containing only animals of their own species score 2 points each. Animals that are in pens with mixed species or are not fully enclosed score 1 point each. Cornfields that are completely enclosed by fences and contain no animals score 1 point each. However, cornfields that are enclosed with at least one animal do not score any points, as the animals are considered to have eaten the corn.
Game end
The game concludes once all cards from the main deck have been drawn and all cards from the offer have been taken and placed by players. After this, players proceed to the final scoring phase to determine the winner.
Tips
A special rule applies if a wolf card is drawn when refilling the offer: all players immediately lose any animals of the type depicted on the wolf card that are not fully enclosed by fences. Additionally, any empty spaces remaining in the middle of a player's farm at the end of the game will result in a penalty of 1 point per empty space.
