To set up Fit to Print, give every player a newspaper grid board and a work table. Place all article, photo, and advertisement tiles face-down in a large central pile, then mix them up so everyone can easily reach them. Arrange player completion tokens on the table. Before the first round begins, each player draws a headline tile which sets their unique bonus scoring criteria for that round. Ensure all players have their workspace ready before the timer starts.

The main objective of Fit to Print is to act as a newspaper editor and create the most successful publication over three rounds. Players must hustle to collect articles, photographs, and advertisements from the central pile and arrange them correctly on their newspaper grid before time runs out. You want to balance your paper's tone, fulfill your headline bonuses, and generate maximum income to win.

A round of Fit to Print takes place in real-time and lasts for four minutes. During this phase, players must use only one hand to grab tiles from the central pile and place them on their work table. Once a tile is placed on your work table, it cannot be returned to the center. Players arrange their collected tiles onto their newspaper grid following strict adjacency rules for articles, photos, and ads.

Scoring happens at the end of each round. Players calculate points from correctly placed articles, matching photos, and headline bonuses. Points are deducted for mismatched or touching identical articles, emotional imbalance in the newspaper's tone, and any tiles left unused on the work table. Finally, ad revenues are added to determine each player's total earnings for that round.

The game is played over three rounds, representing Friday, Saturday, and Sunday editions, with each day offering different grid sizes and publishing rules. After each round's scoring is complete, the player with the lowest total income is eliminated from the game. At the end of the third round, the surviving player with the highest overall score wins.
