The rules, step by step
Setup
To set up, first select one of the track layouts and build it using the provided track tiles. Tracks include a start and finish line, corners, flats, and mountains. Each player then places their two riders, a sprinter (S) and a rouleur (R), at the start line in player order. Each rider has a unique deck of cards; shuffle these decks and place them next to your player board.
Objective
The objective of Flamme Rouge is to be the first player to have one of your two cyclists cross the finish line. This requires careful card management, strategic positioning, and understanding the terrain to outpace your opponents.
On your turn
Each turn, you will draw four cards from one rider's deck, choose one card to play face-down into their discard pile, and place the other three face-up under their draw pile. Repeat this for your second rider. Once all players have selected their cards, reveal them one at a time, starting with the frontmost rider. Move each rider forward a number of spaces equal to the value on their played card, moving them into the rightmost available spot if possible. You can move through other riders but must have enough movement to pass them. After all riders have moved, separate them into distinct packs of touching riders. Starting with the rearmost pack, if there is only one space to the pack ahead, move all riders forward, maintaining their current formation. Any rider with no one in front of them gains a red '2' exhaustion card, which is added face-up below their draw pile. If a draw pile runs out, shuffle the face-up cards to form a new draw pile.
Scoring
The game ends immediately when any player's cyclist crosses the finish line. Once all cyclists have finished moving for that round, the cyclist furthest along the track wins. If two or more cyclists are tied for the furthest position, the one on the rightmost lane of the track wins.

Tips
Card management is crucial, as cards are permanently discarded once played. Utilize the unique decks of your sprinter and rouleur effectively; sprinters have more extreme card values, while rouleurs have more consistent values. In red mountain areas, any card played with a value greater than five counts as five, and slipstreaming is not allowed, leading to more exhaustion cards. In blue descent areas, any card played with a value less than five counts as five, providing an opportunity to remove exhaustion cards from your deck. Consider loading your rouleur with exhaustion to keep your sprinter fresh for the final push.
