Fliptown

To set up Fliptown, place the game box, a standard 52-card deck, a dry-erase marker, and your player mat on the table. The player mat is divided into various regions: the trail, the badlands, the mine, the town, and the cemetery. Each player also selects a character mat to determine starting resources and special abilities.

Your goal in Fliptown is to become the best in the West by scoring the most points through a combination of resource management, exploration, and poker mechanics. You will progress along trails, rob locations, and build up your town over the course of three rounds.

The game is played over three rounds, each featuring six phases starting with a shuffle and setting aside a sheriff card. During your turns, you flip the top three cards of the deck to choose a suit card for region placement, a value card for site selection, and a poker card for your hand. You must carefully manage your actions in the badlands, mine, town, or trail.

Scoring in Fliptown is calculated at the end of the game. You earn points from stars, remaining cash, gold reserves, and silver star milestones. Poker hands built throughout each round also grant cash and point bonuses, while the sheriff card checks your wanted level to impose penalties if you have accumulated too many wanted posters.

The game ends after the completion of three full rounds. Players tally their final scores by converting remaining cash and gold, adding up all stars earned on the mat, and comparing their total against the final ranking chart in the rulebook to determine their western title.
