Setup

Players choose a car and a dashboard to track their car's condition.

The rules, step by step

Setup
Each player selects a racing car and a corresponding dashboard. The dashboard is used to track the car's condition, including tires, brakes, gearbox, body, engine, and suspension. Players place their cars on the starting grid according to their chosen starting positions.
Objective
The main objective of Formula D is to be the first player to complete two full laps of the race track and cross the finish line. Players must strategically manage their car's condition and speed to achieve this goal.
On your turn
During a player's turn, they select a gear (1st to 6th) and roll the corresponding die to determine movement. Higher gears allow for greater movement but also increase the risk of damage. Players must manage their speed to navigate curves, respecting mandatory stop zones, or risk damaging their tires and brakes. Aggressive downshifting can damage the gearbox, while driving over debris can damage the suspension. Collisions with other cars can damage the body, and pushing the engine too hard can cause engine damage. Running out of any car component points (tires, brakes, gearbox, body, engine, suspension) or failing to respect mandatory stops in curves will result in the car being eliminated from the race.
Scoring
Scoring is straightforward: the first player to successfully cross the finish line after completing two full laps of the track is declared the winner of the race.
Game end
The game concludes as soon as one player's car crosses the finish line after having completed two full laps of the race track. If multiple players cross the finish line in the same turn, the player who moved furthest past the line wins.
Tips
Strategic driving is key. Avoid zigzagging on straight sections of the track, as this is prohibited. When approaching curves, carefully plan your speed to respect the mandatory stop zones; failing to do so will damage your tires or brakes. Be mindful of your car's condition, as excessive damage to any component (tires, brakes, gearbox, body, engine, suspension) can lead to elimination. Consider slipstreaming behind opponents on straights to gain extra movement. Pit stops are available to repair damage and change tires, but choosing to skip them can be a risky gamble for a faster race.
