Fortuna et Victoria

Fortuna et Victoria is a family game where players compete against each other to become the richest and most powerful being in a legendary universe. To accomplish this goal, players will hoard money and obtain properties to grow an empire, but also acquire troops, capture monsters and fulfill technological advancements.

The game is based upon a classical square design where players cast dice to move their pawns. Players can buy properties to extend their empire but they also have to keep an eye on other players, as opposite troops may attempt to shatter your power. Players may enter into conflict with one another and this is solved through card combat. You can hire troops or attempt to capture monsters that fight for you. You will have an edge to this combat if you can manage to discover one of the 18 technological advancements of the game. If you win, you keep your troops or monsters plus a large sum from the defeated player. Luck also plays a role in the game with plenty of random events, that may be of benefit or not.

There are several ways to win the game. First, players decide if they want a short or a long game. Short games have five different possibilities of victory including when all properties are bought or when a player captures the dragon. The long game has four possible outcomes including leading to bankruptcy to all other players or by possessing castles in all properties. The winner is the player that obtains the highest amount of money adding properties and other card values.
