Frostpunk: The Board Game

Setting up Frostpunk begins with selecting a scenario, such as 'A New Home: Crater'. Recreate the map layout using the generator tile, starting wall tiles, and near/far map tiles. Arrange resource banks, expedition decks, society cards, population boards, supply boards, building boards, hope and discontent boards, round trackers, and weather decks. Finally, players choose their advisor and take starting resources and citizen cards.

In this cooperative survival game, one to four players act as advisors in the last city on earth. You must work together to gather resources like coal and wood, build your city, feed your citizens, and manage hope, discontent, and sickness to survive brutal life-ending disasters.

Each round is divided into nine phases: Dawn, Morning, Generator, Weather, Preparation, Action, Dusk, Hunger, and Night. During the action phase, players take turns fueling the generator and using available citizens to remove snow, gather resources, construct buildings, use building abilities, and deploy scouts.

The game does not feature a traditional point-scoring system. Instead, progress is measured entirely by how well your society survives and whether you successfully fulfill the specific victory objectives dictated by your chosen scenario.

Players lose the game immediately if the last hope token is removed from the hope track, the sixth discontent token is placed, the generator breaks down twice, the sickness marker hits the maximum sickness space after overwhelming healthcare, or the corpse marker reaches the end of the corpse track.
