The number of cards for each value varies: 2 (16 cards), 3 (12 cards), 4 (9 cards), 5 (8 cards), 6 and 7 (5 cards each), 9, 10, and 11 (4 cards each), 12, 13, and 14 (3 cards each), 15 (2 cards), and 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20 (1 card each). Deal 6 cards face-down to each player. If there are 7 or more players, deal 5 cards to each player instead. Place the remaining cards face-down in the center of the playing area to form the draw pile.

On your turn
Starting with the designated first player and proceeding clockwise, each player takes a turn. On your turn, you must play one card from your hand face-up directly in front of you. After playing a card, compare its value to the cards played by other players. If your card's value is strictly higher than another player's card, that player must discard their card and draw a new one from the draw pile. If your card's value is equal to another player's card, you form an alliance. The combined value of your cards becomes the new value to beat for that alliance. If your card's value is lower than another player's card, you must discard your card and draw a new one from the draw pile. If you play a card and its value is not lower than any other player's card, your card remains in play.
Scoring
Fuji Flush is not a point-scoring game. The objective is purely to be the first player to eliminate all cards from their hand and their personal discard area. There are no points awarded for cards played or discarded.
Game end
The game concludes immediately when a player successfully gets rid of all the cards they hold in their hand and all the cards they have played in front of them. This player is the winner. It is possible for multiple players to win simultaneously if they manage to empty their hands and discard piles at the same time through an alliance.
