To set up the game, place the double-sided game board in the center of the playing area. Choose which side of the board to use based on the desired game version: one side for 'couples vs. couples' and the other for 'individual vs. partner'. Shuffle the four different card decks (blue, orange, red, and purple) and place each deck face down on its designated spot on the board. Each player receives a personal whiteboard and a marker. The hourglass and Cupid tokens should be placed within easy reach of all players. The game also includes pawns for each player, which are placed on their starting positions on the board.

The primary objective of 'Batalia Cuplurilor' is to accumulate the highest number of Cupid tokens. Players achieve this by successfully navigating the game board, engaging in various challenges, and providing correct answers to questions, often in collaboration with or in competition against their partner or other couples.

During a player's turn, they first move their pawn along the designated path on the game board. The color of the space where the pawn lands determines which type of card the player must draw from the corresponding deck. The player then reads the card aloud (or silently, depending on the card type) and attempts to complete the challenge or answer the question presented on the card. An hourglass is used to time certain challenges, adding an element of pressure and speed to the gameplay.

Scoring varies slightly between the two game versions. In version 1, where couples compete against other couples, a couple earns one Cupid token for each successfully completed challenge or correctly answered question. In version 2, designed for individual play against a partner, the active player receives two Cupid tokens for successfully completing a task, while their partner receives one Cupid token as a reward for their assistance or correct guess. This dual scoring system encourages both individual effort and cooperative interaction.

The game concludes when all players or couples have successfully navigated their pawns to the central space of the game board. Once this occurs, all players count their accumulated Cupid tokens. The player or couple with the highest total number of Cupid tokens is then declared the winner of 'Batalia Cuplurilor'.
