Ginkgopolis

Ginkgopolis is set up by placing the starting nine building tiles in a 3x3 grid with urbanization letters labeled A through L around the perimeter. The remaining building tiles are stacked nearby. Success points (yellow) and individual player resources (red) are sorted into bowls, and each player conceals their components behind a personal player screen. Every player receives two hand tokens and a starting set of character cards, drafting three to begin the game with a hand of four cards total. The draw deck is formed from the starting tiles, while building cards are added dynamically as new tiles are placed.

The objective of Ginkgopolis is to score the most victory points by expanding and building up the futuristic city modeled after the Ginkgo biloba tree. Players must balance resource management, tile placement, and card drafting to construct buildings, claim district majorities, and maximize end-game card bonuses.

Each round, players simultaneously choose one card and one building tile (or urbanisation token) from their hand to play. Going clockwise, players reveal their choices and execute actions: overbuilding by stacking tiles on top of existing ones, expanding outward by placing tiles along the perimeter marked by letters, or exploiting buildings to collect resources. Cards grant ongoing or end-game bonuses, and leftover cards are passed to the next player in a drafting phase.

Scoring happens primarily at the end of the game based on several criteria: success point cards, building heights, remaining hand tokens, and area majorities in districts of connected tiles of the same color. In a 2-player game, first and second place majorities award points equal to the total resource value present in that district, while higher player counts restrict scoring to top positions.

The game triggers its final phase when the main stack of building tiles is completely exhausted or when a player successfully places all of their personal resource cubes onto the board. After a final cleanup and resource return phase, players calculate end-game points from cards and district majorities to determine the winner.
